here’s my updated ranking from extremely good to very good peace the last great american dynasty invisible string august seven exile (feat. Bon Iver) illicit affairs hoax mirrorball cardigan betty mad woman the 1 my tears ricochet this is me trying epiphany
This album takes more than one listen to fully comprehend everything going on in these stories (songs if you must). I swear, some of these could be on Netflix. I know everyone knows this is a lyrical masterpiece, but it is. These songs have immaculate and well thought out narratives, telling such creative stories. An emotional roller coaster, with happy calming songs like “invisible string” and ballads like “hoax” and “exile”. 130000000000/5 stars 🌟 ♥️
Folklore has some of the best written songs ever by Taylor. The lyrics are so thoughtful, and the story of Betty and James going through their lives is very intriguing. I enjoy that it is a more laid back approach so you can really focus on the lyrics. Taylor, you killed it. ❤️
Every single song in this album is perfection. I don’t think I could think of any other artist who has single handedly created an album with a set of songs that I literally ALL like. They’re all so different yet so cohesive. She couldn’t have done any better.
Taylor Swift is a rare combo of pop star and poet. Combining that with the magnificence of The National’s Aaron Dessner, has made some pretty high art with a pop sensibility. Now, the storytelling... Taylor Swift will be remembered by history as pop star, poet, cool human, and one of the best musical storytellers to ever live.
after listening to evermore, i am still convinced that this album is her best yet. although it remains upbeat and happy it lets us explore more of a lyrical basis for her. i am in no way a musician or a proffesional music reviewer but if i were i would give this five stars no question .
folklore is a statement that Taylor is an amazing artist, it so well detailed and there is only one bad song in the album (peace), reputation & Lover (combined) can't even come close to the excellence of this album
Every song on this album is depressing! Since having someone buy all her original music Taylor Swift cannot write or sing a song that has upbeat tone! She needs to challenge herself again to sing a song with an upbeat tone!
I am one of Taylor’s hugest fans. But this album and Evermore is something I would not want to play at a party or when chilling with friends. Or ever.... I just hate these two low boring mellow homely nothing special bland albums. I did say hate... I hate them.
Not a Taylor Swift fan but can appreciate her talent as a songwriter. I find this album to be in the realm of Americana and singer/songwriter material. I definitely appreciate the stripped down and raw approach to the album. Kudos to Taylor for trying something different and picking up a new fan.
